In our latest series for Into the Deep, our team of writers reflect on how God helps us find and use our voices. God then sends us forth to others, each in our unique ways, to be God’s hands, feet, eyes, and ears in the world. As I reflected on the various ways I’ve been invited to walk with others, I noticed how God is present in the mutual exchange of speaking and listening to each other’s stories.

“You hold space really well.” I remember the exact moment when my friend Bridget named this gift in me. We had just spent a less-than-perfect Thanksgiving dinner with her family, where everyone seemed to get on each other’s nerves. We left as soon as dessert was finished, and I watched the tears begin to fall down her face before we even pulled out of her parents’ driveway.
