No one cares to admit it when we make mistakes. It’s only in acknowledging where we’ve messed up that we can begin to talk about the real and sometimes messy (and often grace-filled) work of forgiveness. I’m still a work in progress! A number of years ago, I had a falling out with a good friend. I’m not going to repeat the words that ruined our friendship. I thought there was enough trust between us to bear the weight of a difficult conversation. In hindsight, I said something terribly insensitive.
