I have a letter from one of my former students tucked away in a keepsake box, one of a dozen affirmation notes that I received on the final night of our mission trip to Nicaragua. In the letter, he reflects on the pain God must feel when looking upon all that God has created; seeing a world filled with poverty, hunger, and violence. He writes, “Surely God must be heartbroken and desperate to intervene. What shall I do? Whom shall I send? Who will go for us? Your “yes” is the answer to God’s prayer!
